About Family Support Specialist

What does a Family Support Specialist do?

As Family Support Specialists, we work closely with families to provide service coordination, training to the families, support, and enhancing parents’ roles. We partner with the families to create individualized care programs that are based on the information we collected from them and thoroughly assessing them to determine the eligibility of the program. We visit the families regularly at their homes so that we can monitor their progress and assist them progress towards their goals. We monitor the progress of the child's outcomes and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs.

Core tasks:

  • advice parents on how they can enhance their parental role
  • create individualized care programs
  • monitor the child’s progress and advice the family accordingly
  • assist the family to progress towards their family goals
