About Family Support Worker

What does a Family Support Worker do?

As Family Support Workers, we help determine the eligibility of families for federal and state assistance. We explain decisions to families involving rules and regulations that the families don’t understand. We also have a responsibility to ensure that the families are getting the benefits they are entitled to and also making recommendations to the families about education or training. We establish a rapport with the families that they can share their information with us comfortably. We also help families connect them with state or community amenities.

Core tasks:

  • determine the eligibility of families for federal and state assistance
  • identify any issue on benefit issuances
  • explain complex rules and regulations to families
  • connect families to community and state resources
