Caleres is derived from the Latin word calre, which means 'to shine with fire or strength.' The *5* in our logo comes from a late-nineteenth-century stamp on the bottom of all our shoes that reflected the company's pledge of convenience and fit. If the stamp wears out, the firm offered $5 to the wearer. We have kept the pioneering spirit alive by our unwavering commitment. Caleres' 140-year craftsmanship tradition serves as our cornerstone. However, investments in infrastructure, pattern analysis, logistics, recycling, procurement, and the talented people who will take us into the future will help Caleres offer the best, most wanted brand portfolio in the industry. It's brands can be seen in all of modern world marketplace's outlets, including our 1,200+ branded retail centers, department and convenience shops, branded e-commerce platforms, and a variety of third-party retail sites.

I was the store manager in name only. The district manager would not allow me to fire employees who continuously failed to do their jobs, left the store unlocked after hours, and called out for multiple shifts. While I was 9 months pregnant I had to work 12 hour shifts (due to employee call outs) and was unable to close the store for any amount of time for breaks.

Pros and Cons
Discount on shoes and opportunity for sales bonuses
Managers have no power in the store

I was blessed because famous footwear was my first job ever, after looking for a job for months after I graduated high school and was waiting to start my first semester of college. At first the store was kind of calm the hours were great, I came in on a starting salary with the intention of working my way up for the benefits and the increase in salary. This company has no room for growth unless your sucking up to some in an higher position. Everyone thinks you want their job so the work environment was very hostile. The manger at the store(famous footwear in kings plaza mall) I worked at was very amazing, he always tried his best to look out for all his employees but the company policies and guide lines doesn’t allot to looking out for their employees.

Pros and Cons
The manger of the store tired his best to work around my school schedule.
Hostile work environment, no benefits, no room the growth, etc.
