Fayetteville Public Schools was the first chartered public school district in Arkansas. The system was established upon the creation of many public schools in Arkansas in 1871. In same year, the University of Arkansas (also in Fayetteville, Arkansas) was established. The Fayetteville Public Schools is as well recognized by the Arkansas Department of Education.
