Job Summary:

  • Support the Volvo organization and the Volvo retailers with technical expertise and workshop process development.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assist the retailers in resolving difficult product technical problems
  • Analyze and report technical faults found on Volvo products
  • Perform inspections on alleged product failures and author incident reports
  • Provide feedback on technical or service-related problems to the appropriate Volvo organization
  • Follow-up retailer compliance to the Volvo requirements for the workshop processes
  • Follow-up retailer compliance to the Volvo requirements for technical training
  • Follow the Volvo Cars policies in the Business Management Systems
  • Perform special follow-ups, investigations and other requests
  • Support the enterprise with technical expertise
  • Make recommendations to Volvo retailers on how to effectively repair faults in the cars
  • Make recommendations to Volvo retailers on how to meet retailer workshop and technical standards

Competencies/Experience/Skills Required:

  • Expert knowledge of automotive technology or the equivalent product experience required. Minimum 10 yrs experience.
  • Associates or Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Proficient technical writing and computer skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working at an automotive retailer preferred
  • Achieve and maintain ASE Master and Volvo Master technical training rating
  • Achieve and maintain ASE Master and Volvo Master and L1 technical training rating
  • Detailed familiarity with automotive service and technical policies and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of automotive high voltage, hybrid systems and diagnostics
  • Vehicle fire and collision investigation knowledge/skills preferred

Competencies/Abilities:

  • Work independently to logically analyze a technical problem, identify the root cause and document the results
  • Effectively plan and coordinate daily and weekly scheduling of retailer visits, incident investigations and other FTS activities
  • Record information using Volvo specific diagnostic tools (i. e. MCD-Hub and to download programs and software using Volvo specific computer applications DHA and SDA)
  • Access and utilize all relevant Volvo systems (i. e. TIE, VIDA and Office products and computer hardware)
  • Effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Persuade and negotiate via phone, in person, build and give effective presentations
  • Interact with employees and customers in a Volvo retailer
  • Measure results and take corrective action when needed
  • Proficiency with computers to communicate, download software, analyze, collect and store information
  • Push for continuous improvement, search for new and innovative solutions to technical and workshop problems

  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
  • Load computer tapes and disks, and install software and printer paper or forms.
  • Train people in computer system use.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
  • Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate purchases.
  • Implement and provide technical support for voice services and equipment, such as private branch exchange, voice mail system, and telecom system.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
  • Research new technologies by attending seminars, reading trade articles, or taking classes, and implement or recommend the implementation of new technologies.
