About Financial Aid Assistant

What does a Financial Aid Assistant do?

As Financial Aid Assistants, we counsel and assist students in completing the necessary steps for their FAFSA application, and process it based on the federal eligibility guidelines. We verify the completeness and accuracy of verification documentation submitted to the financial aid office by students & parents and resolve SAR code issues as well as any other conflict that arises as required. We analyze complex financial and income data provided by the students and their parents on the FAFSA application in order to evaluate and monitor the students’ academic progress. We reconcile all financial aid funding reports with the students’ accounts.

Core tasks:

  • award financial aid to eligible students determined by the EFC
  • originate Federal Direct student loans in BANNER using on line federal applications COD & NSLDS
  • manually re-calculate the students’ income to adjust special financial exceptions
