I do a lot of things for only $11 per hour. I don't think working here is a good idea because they overwork you and will not let you have a raise no matter how long you work there. The customers are nice and some workers are too.

Pros and Cons
Using your 10% discount more than once a day 7 days a week.
Pay rate was not what I was expecting.

I loved working at Five Below. I really did enjoy my job. However, the "manager" above me, did nothing but dtay on her phone, stay outside smoking, and then would get mad when she couldnt finish her duties on time and would demand that i do her job on top of all pf my stuff. She then decided to yell and cuss at me in the middle of the store with all of the customers around, all bc she was mad at her girlfriend. The other so-called manager, the store manager, had a lot of craziness going on in her personal life and could not keep her personal life at home , instead she brought all of her drama and crap to work with her. Plus, she would call me in every day i had off and if she couldn't legally give me more hours, she would pay me "under the table" in cash but she only paid me like half of what i was actuallly making an hour. Great job, extremely sad and poor management

Pros and Cons
Its a great learning experience
To much immaturity and drama

I adored the team that was in my store but if you ever need any help dont expect it. The district manager is horrible to you! She talks to you like you are an idiot. There is no life/work balance!

I was one of the first to apply at the store in person. (first team member) brand new spot, not even finished being set up.Six years later the only members of the original team were my coworker who was a key holder and i. Went through about a dozen managers. Hours were terrible and unpredictable. No opportunities for growth. In the end i got bullied by the general manager because i got another part time job a few doors down. My new side job was only seasonal. However she threatened that if i didn't leave that job i would lose my job there. I couldn't risk it so i quit the other job. Then my schedule was changed within 24 hours without my knowledge. So i missed a shift that less than 24 hrs previous i wasn't scheduled for. So that's a no call no show. And just like that after six years of loyalty i'm unemployed.

Pros and Cons
Employee discount
No growth, wages are bare minimum

I decided to apply to Five Below after retiring. I loved working there. Great managers, staff that cared, a lot of public interaction. I loved my customers. When they changed Staff, things changed. The reason I left was I fell at work and broke my hip.

Pros and Cons
Contest for charities for prizes
Too many young people who didn't want to work.

The General Manager was always yelling and cursing. Several employees reported him to HR but nothing was ever done. The district manager made promises that he never kept such as, giving me a promotion and a pay raise

Pros and Cons
The customers
The management from GM and higher

I agree with you. My manager yelled at me one time for standing around when I was just trying to fix some of the damages that could have been fixed.

I have adhd and tend to have trouble with executive dysfuntion and having too much energy with nowhere to channel it. Working at five below let me use that energy in a more productive way by doing repetative actions such as stacking and organizing products and displays, working the cash register, and helping customers which I really enjoyed. It also helped me find out these type of jobs would allow me to have fun while also doing tasks. Although I struggled a bit at first, I was able to get the hang of it quick. It's a good first job and from at least my experience, it's a good job for neurodivergent people, and those who are visual and hands on learners.

Pros and Cons
Friendly work environment, plenty of tasks to keep you occupied, and easy to manage
Only con I could think of was figuring out how to bag items fast

I worked at 5 below for a few months before I had to leave for better opportunities. The environment was friendly, fast-paced, and the manager was very understanding. But they favored one or two employees over the rest, and our hours kept being cut even when we asked for more work to accomidate for the favorite workers. During COVID, this issue got worse. The store only needs a max of 3 people on a shift at a time, and having a crew of 20 or more people made it difficult for them to give everyone reasonable work.

Pros and Cons
Creative freedom, friendly environment
Not enough hours, rush hours with limited help
