Flight Engineer

As flight engineers, we are aerospace engineers responsible for monitoring all aircraft engine and control systems during pre-flight, post-flight inspections and when flying. We also master other aerospace maintenance, loadmaster and other functions. As critical members of the flight crew, our role is to assure smooth and steady takeoff and landing, and a safe flight in between. We are typically employed by the military and companies that use larger aircrafts with new technology.

Core tasks:

• performing aircraft inspections (visual, preflight, through-flight, postflight)
• performing non-scheduled aircraft maintenance
• maintaining aircraft forms and records
• performing data analysis (weight, balance, performance, consumption, and more)
• recording data for maintenance debrief and aircraft usage analysis
• operating and monitoring engine and aircraft systems controls and indicators
• monitoring engine instruments throughout period of operation
• controlling/monitoring various aircraft systems
