About Floorhand

What does a Floorhand do?

As floorhands, we ensure that manual labor tasks are working efficiently. We ensure the safe conducting of labor tasks. We report to the RIG managers. We operate the slips and tongs for connecting the tubular and drill pipes. Our duties include performing the maintenance tasks on the equipment. We also work with the BOP systems. We operate and monitor the shakers. As floorhands, we use chemical sacks and mud pumps. Some of us also perform the housekeeping tasks, such as painting, chipping, and washing. We collaborate with motormen for loading and offloading the supplies. We ensure safety equipment and tool operations for best performance.

  • reporting to the drillers and supervisors
  • adding and removing the rotary connections
