Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), the major subsidiary of NextEra Energy is a power utility company founded in 1925 with its headquarters based in Juno Beach, Florida, United States. It serves nearly 4.9 million accounts and 10 million people in Florida and generates, transmits, distributes, and sells electric energy. In 1989, FPL was the first non-Japanese company to win the Deming Prize for quality from the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers. It changed its name to NextEra Energy in March 2010, to modernize its image along with that it launched a Power Delivery Diagnostic Center in March 2015 which uses agile technology to control the electric system in order to maintain dependable service. The company was recognized as the most trusted U.S. electric utility by Market Strategies International in 2014 along with that it was the winner of the ReliabilityOne award for the south region and the Technology and Innovation award from the PA Consulting group.
