Fort Lewis College’s history begins in in 1978 from Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Passing through many transformation phases, it became what it is today in 1956. Today, Fort Lewis College awards more degrees to Native American students than any other four-year, baccalaureate-granting institution in the nation - about 26% of all degrees awarded. It has been recognized by the Forbes magazine as one of the best colleges from 4,300 colleges. It is located in Durango. Its study programs include arts, business, education, health sciences, humanities, social and natural sciences, and teacher education.
