About Front OF House

What does a Front OF House do?

As fronts of house, we welcome, receive, and relay the orders of diners at restaurants. We clear silverware, glassware, and crockery from every table once guests have finished their meals. Transporting meal orders from the kitchen to the pertinent table is also our obligation. We are responsible for receiving patrons, showing them their tables, and communicating their orders to kitchen staff. We give customers a check upon completion of their meal. Obtaining and confirming telephonic, walk-in, and online reservations and reporting breakages by diners are also in our job description.

  • receiving and informing staff about requests related to food and beverage
  • giving directions related to early arrivals to the bar as they wait for their tables to be vacant
  • giving guests with their checks after the meal sitting
