At this time I was going to college at Kennesaw State and I got this position through their working program. I enjoyed helping vets find work, get access to resources, and even learned from my older fellow vets some things that helped me out. It was a good work environment

Pros and Cons
Good team of people and everyone in other departments were helpful
There wasn't alot of room for promotions, I had to move on for better pay ultimately

Working with the DOL back all those years ago was a wonderful experience. Opportunities for advancement were very slim because the offices are small and the work load was large. We didn’t get raises with the state for years. Being with DOL was like being a family. Everyone cared about each other. The holidays, vacation time, and sick leave made the job worthwhile with our benefits even though the pay wasn’t great. Most of us there were there to help companies find the right person for the job and help those wanting or needing a job get one; it wasn’t about the pay. Today lots of things have changed but I’m not there so I can’t go into detail about all those changes but from what I understand is that they have a lot of work to do with very few workers. If you are looking for sick leave, holidays, and vacation time plus helping lots of people in need then the DOL is a good place to be. Today the friendships we formed back then & placements warmed our heart.

Came in as a contractor. First person I was working with was very uncooperative. Kept information to himself. Project I was supposed to do got scrapped, but they kept me on board to install a piece of software. At that time I worked with the CICS systems programmer that knew what she was doing and the lead MVS contractor that knew what she was doing and got complete cooperation. The software got installed and tested on time with no problems when released to production.

Pros and Cons
Leadership
None that I can think of
