Founded in 1996, and headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Girls on the Run is an after-school initiative customized and designed to make girls of grade 3 to 5 competitive and to discover their innate talent and strengths. The program aims to develop a connection between emotional and mental health and adheres to the needs of local communities through virtual drills and modifications related to safety. At the culmination of the exercise and drills, there is a competition held named 5K which serves as an energizer to help girls achieve a sense of pride and helps in developing a target-oriented and intrepid mindset. Also, for middle school girls (grade 6th to 8th) there is a Heart and Sole program aimed to build cohesion, togetherness, and healthy relationships among students through physical drills. There are several volunteer and coaching roles available at the organization; therefore, candidates willing to join must apply for these roles and more through the organizationâs official website.
