It is a private and non-profit teaching hospital. The hospital is considered a world-class academic medical center. The affiliated university is Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). Good Samaritan Hospital was opened as a care facility with just 9 beds. Today, it is a Level 1 trauma center with 408 licensed beds, Heart & Vascular Center, Orthopedic Center, Stroke Center, Tertiary Retinal Surgery, Transfusion-Free Medicine & Surgery Center, and outstanding patient care hospital with national and internationally renowned physicians. It offers health care services for approximately 12,500 patients and more than 74,000 outpatient visits.
