About Grocery Clerk

What does a Grocery Clerk do?

As Grocery Clerks, we are responsible for maintaining a grocery store to ensure it runs efficiently. Some of our duties are preparing sale displays, ensuring the store is clean, stocking products, and processing customer orders. Our job puts us in direct and immediate contact with customers, hence the need to be warm, friendly, and professional in responding to their immediate needs at the store. We work as a team in fulfilling our objectives. Our job also requires physical strength due to the moving and removing of stocked goods. We also inspect the stores and ensure that shelves are organized with product labels front facing and ordered neatly so customers are able to quickly see the items.

Core tasks:

  • properly stock retail shelves with products
  • ensure the store is clean, safe and in order
  • assist customers in a positive manner
  • support other grocery store personnel
