About Grounds Crew

What does a Grounds Crew do?

As Grounds Crews, we manage all field preps such as turf management, mound, and plate prep, fertilization, warning track maintenance, and disease control. We are also responsible for facilitating the infield trap while monitoring the current and future weather conditions to ensure the players’ safety and playability. We perform pre-and post-game field and turf maintenance as required while ensuring that all equipment is kept in excellent working condition by coordinating with technicians and purchase new parts for replacement.

Core tasks:

  • develop strong relationships with visiting managers to coordinate pregame batting practice
  • excavate ground material around utility poles by utilizing the appropriate equipment
  • coordinate snow removal and any other winter maintenance activity as needed
