I always thought I would retire from this property, well we see that didn't happen. I can not or will not work for/with a manager that treats his employees very bad, but also is known for having baby fits in front of guests. That is just unprofessional. So that's my side of the story

I cannot say for every Hampton, however this one in Jonesboro Arkansas is abhorrent. Terrible wages, terrible work-life balance, extreme expectations, and the reason for it all being awful is the building owner. The building owner is a horrible backwards thinking old man who sexually harasses all of his female employees, don't work here if you're not a white male. For your own sake.

I was new to front desk work so my nerves were everywhere at first then I caught on to my duties.. the GM, the front Desk Manager and the Manager that booked all the events and group reservations were all very mean and nasty human beings. They would yell at the workers , they were very verbally abusive. So one day I asked the manager had I done something to her and what was the problem that she had with me and she played as if I was delusional. The next day I was fired accused of leaving the safe open. Which was some complete B.S.

It’s in the pass! If it doesn’t have the same owners… may be better now. I wouldn’t know what it’s like now they closed in March 2020… because they sold and didn’t tell us till days before they closed… awful after how everyone put some much effort for the owners and the hotel to pass all inspections… But I learned a lot about myself and what I have to offer the world.

Stairs were never done. It took a guest saying she found a dead rat on the stairs for them ti clean it. They never give you your deserved pay without you fighting for it. They ever say thank you for doing extra. The front desk manager was so unprofessional doing inappropriate things instead of taking care of the guests. The manager was never inside he was too busy outside talking to his girlfriend. They let people do drugs and have terrible relationships with everyone. Worse experience in my life

I was hired to replace the GM who had been promoted to a regional manager position. The problem was he could never let go of this property. He would constantly rebuke my staff without consulting me (on two separate occasions while guests were present), then berate me for not handling things myself. When I finally had enough and told him he needed to respect the chain of command and come to me first before taking it upon himself to correct staff members, he visibly bristled with a "how dare you" look. I was released three days later. This caught me totally off guard as I had been led to believe by others equal to and above him that I was doing a good job.

Overall, the Hampton was an okay place to work. Weekend when I worked were noisy, poorly blocked by other staff, and poorly managed. But that's pretty much the same at all 2-4 star hotels where I've worked.

Poor communication, no tardiness policy, leave staff to do lot of work outside of their position
