They are laughable. The insurance they offer is so ridiculously expensive and the deductible is laughable. You just received nothing from them.

Former Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa employee8 months ago
I worked for them several years back. The pay is ridiculously miserable. As for benefits, I didn’t even take a second look, how bad it is. It’s like they got to maybe legally offer it but no one wants it unless facing the bottom pit.
You comment as
When I first joined other employees were very welcoming and warming.

They communicate with all employees for general information for the entire staff. 🗣 So the environment is always fresh and the new commers feel welcomed.

In the beginning it seemed like a good place. But they showed their true colors real fast. The owner of my location referred to her employees as being and I quote a dime a dozen..

Their percentage that they pay was the worst I've ever had in 21 years in this business. You're lucky if you get 20%.

Management at hand and stone is the worst I've ever experienced
avatar-of-creator

Their management at my location was the most incompetent I've ever dealt with. He had no prior experience in the health and beauty industry. And absolute OCD control freak who did not like being questioned or confronted on his incompetence which trust me happened all the time.
You comment as
It is a great place to work! The team is friendly and supportive, and the company provides a great work-life balance.

The front desk manager loves to create dissension and drama. A very petty bitter woman.
You comment as
What types of trainings provided?🧠

Most places are biweekly pay as much I have heard. In my time there was not much pay for training 💰

A small con from my side is that it can be difficult to get to work in the urban environment. 🏙
avatar-of-creator
The front desk would screw everything up left and right and try to shift blame to the massage therapist or estheticians. That was where all the trouble came from. As a matter of fact the front desk lost a lot of people who signed up for their BS memberships because they got fed up with getting ripped off
You comment as

Hand and Stone is the worst company I've ever worked for. Their business plan was a literal copy of Massage envies. And as we all know they are considered the Walmart of our profession. Hand and Stone is considered McDonald's

Not in the least. They offer discounts to customers to leave positive reviews online. They do not want you to have a life outside of them. At my location if you wanted a day off you had to ask 5 weeks in advance.
You comment as
Sometimes they offered free continuing education courses for their massage therapists.

They are very understanding with scheduling. I go to school during they day and they were able to accommodate that no problem. 👨

Scheduling depends entirely on the staffing at the site. If overstaffed, you would find hours cut but more ability to take days off as needed.

If you want to be successful there you must be weak, spineless, a total sycophant, someone who does not stand up for themselves. They don't like anyone who questions them or gets in their face when they try to pull their BS.
