Hawaii Pacific Health and Straub Medical Center seem unconcerned about their employees' health. There is no guarantee you can actually have PTO. I was told I could not take any this year, and I eventually had to resign if I wanted to take any time off at all. My department manager was very sympathetic and wanted me to have time off, but the problem was the Resource Team, aka the Float Team, which provides a temporary replacement while you are away. If and when they refuse to cover you, even if management has approved your PTO, there is no practical way of taking time off, because it will completely overburden your colleagues. My physical and mental health were suffering, but the Resource Team was adamant about no time off. My own manager was sympathetic but powerless in the face of the Resource Team -- if they say no, it is no. I need to be assured that I can make plans and take PTO -- if you are the same, then Straub is NOT for you.

Pros and Cons
At the department level, some good people to work with. Pay is above average
Reneges on offered benefits. PTO not guaranteed. Little concern for employees' well-being.
