HeartShare Human Services of New York got started in 1914. It is a non-profit organization specializing in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Foster Care and Adoption, Family Counseling, and Family Services. They aim to empower and nurture adults and children diagnosed with developmental and intellectual disabilities. These include autism spectrum disorders that are treated through vocational training, educational, life skills, recreational, family support, residential, case management, and health care services. They include The HeartShare School, which offers therapies and quality education to children with autism, HeartShare Wellness, specializing in critical health services to those with developmental disabilities, and HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS), which aims to support people living in crisis due to poverty. They have now expanded to over 100 program sites in Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, to 61 of the 62 New York counties. It is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
