The first location of Hertz was Chicago, Illinois, United States. The Hertz corporation retains Dollar and Thrifty Automotive Group which divides into Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car. The parent company of the Hertz corporation, Hertz Global Holdings was ranked 335th in Forbes 2018 Fortune 500 list. L. Jacobs began a small car rental operation with a dozen Model T Ford Cars. Jacob’s fleet expanded to 600 vehicles within five years. The corporation was purchased by John D Hertz and later came to be known as Hertz Drive- Ur-Self System. Jacob became the president and chief operating officer of the Hertz Drive-Ur-Self System in 1961.
