At first upon being hired to work for a big and well known company like HP finally seemed like I was the luckiest person in the world. I got great benefits and a company car. Once i became familiar with the position i began to see that this is definitely a job for single people who don't have a significant other. My hours went from 8AM to almost 2AM the next morning with a 3 hour break in the mid evening. I also had the unfortunate luck of being managed by a team leader who often uses browbeating and gaslighting to manage people. They gave me such a vastly large territory and not much help so often I get criticized for not being able to fulfill service calls when half the time I need to drive 30-70 miles to the next place, not including traffic. Also if you have a family to raise and need a balance to spend time with them you can forget it. You will have the W/L balance of a truck driver during weekdays. You can expect to be divorced if you work this job, just like me.

Pros and Cons
Company Car, Benefits, You can prospect potential clients for better employment opportunities
Poor management, Poor work/life balance, low salary, part of your salary goes to the company car

The challenges for HP where most of the profits and revenue are based on products HP does not make are constant. The daily drama, infighting, back biting and lack of actual processes is alarming. Can you imagine gutting IT support by 90% and not having a plan for support? Can you imagine a team that can sell a high margin product but chooses not too? The EPIC disasters are industry legends. Some are famous lessons in business schools on what not to do.

Pros and Cons
You can join the many who once worked there.
Moving to Texas may be required.

I was there for almost 5 yrs. As years go by I moved up different levels. I started off in hardware build department where i built the computer servers. Then went to the pre-test to check systems alright on the servers. Then I moved to the repair department if the hardware goes wrong I diagnose what's wrong and repair the damage. Eventually moved around where I was a supervisor to help new employees to train them properly.

I worked a long time in that company, but last few years they wanted to pressure you that much, you wanted to get out from the company. I worked with different groups, different managers, but the last manager/director and VP did not care what your job skills are set, they just changed job function for everyone and they want you to do what they ask, work 12 to 16 hours a day, and they are still not satisfied even HR did not care when I complain to them.
