Hofstra University is an independent university originated in 1935 as an extension of New York University located in Hempstead, New York. It became independent in 1939 and gained university status in 1963. The University comprises ten schools includes the Northwell School of Medicine and Deane School of Law. The university’s academia has approximately 117 buildings on 244 acres and the part of the campus located south of Hempstead Turnpike and west of California Avenue is in the village of Hempstead. It also offers an MBA program as well as other classes in New York City from a center in Manhattan. It is accredited in 28 academic areas and 32 total areas along with that it grants 160 undergraduates and 170 graduate program options. The initial logo of the university was a seal which was created by Professor of Art Constant van de Wall in 1937 and it celebrated its first four-year commencement in 1939 graduating a class of 83 students.
