About Hospitalist Medical Director

What does a Hospitalist Medical Director do?

As Medical Directors, we are responsible for providing clinical operational leadership for patient care. We supervise and support physicians and APC colleagues. We provide guidance and leadership on the use of medicines in healthcare organizations. We devise the protocols and guidelines for the clinical staff and evaluate them while they are being employed. Providing input and actively participating in developing the structure for clinical care is part of our daily responsibilities. We engage with hospital leadership on opportunities and support colleagues in professional growth and development. Working as Medical Directors, we lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure issues are addressed properly.

Core tasks:

  • develop and provide oversight for clinical protocols
  • coordinate with other healthcare workers
  • address issues and effectively resolve them
