Job Description

The Benefits Representative is responsible for the administration of Grand Sierra Resorts employee benefits. Benefits include leave, wellness, and general liability programs by acting as a liaison for employees. Perform research and analysis of benefit premiums.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Administers and monitors benefit eligibility for benefits programs, including health (medical/dental/vision), life, disability, and ancillary benefits. Responsible for scheduling and conducting employee benefit orientations; informs new employees of benefit programs, policies, and related enrollment deadlines.
* Required to research and resolve premium variances due to premium election changes, rate changes or terminations.
* Required to perform daily, weekly and monthly audits and reporting of premiums to ensure timely updates of system information.
* Promotes benefits, health and wellness in the workplace; develops/sources education and resource materials (bulletin boards, newsletters), and facilitates educational opportunities to achieve and maintain a healthy workforce (health fairs), increase benefit knowledge and utilization (benefit fairs), and decrease benefit costs.
* Acts as liaison between Human Resources department and Payroll department in regard to payroll deductions
* Provides technical support and guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers in evaluating reasonable accommodation, return to work, and protected leave requests.
* Maintain strict confidentiality in all duties and responsibilities. All other departmental duties assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

* Strong analytical skills with accounting or bookkeeping background. Ability to cross reference multiple systems and tables.
* Strong problem solving and attention to detail required.
* Ability to handle high volume of reports and numbers.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to speak in front of groups.
* Demonstrable experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
* Must be experienced and sensitive to working with diverse groups of people.
* Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactorily. EDUCATION:

Strong financial or analytical background preferred. Human Resources background is helpful. Minimum of High School Diploma and AA Degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of all applicable laws concerning medical insurance, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company. Must possess a strong attention to detail. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and general public. Results oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to create and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions through decisive judgment. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

Must obtain and maintain appropriate licensing with the Nevada Gaming Board.

Other Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Ability to operate personal computer (to access & input information using Microsoft Excel & Word, Power Point, AS400 et. al.), copy machine, photocopier, calculator etc., in order to perform job functions and assist internal/external customers.. Champion of Customer Service and building positive team spirit. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
