Clark Construction Group seeks a paid intern to assist the Human Resources department in day-to-day activities. This internship will give the candidate a hands-on HR experience on the Training and Development team. Well suited candidates should be able to balance working in a fast-paced environment, have an interest in human resources or organizational development, work with direction from a supervisor as well as independently, and recommend or create process improvements when needed. Candidates must be currently enrolled in college or recent graduates, and plan on pursuing a career in a related field such as education or human resources. They must also have excellent oral and written communications skills as well as Microsoft Office skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. The ideal candidate would be available to work a minimum of 10 hours a week in the Bethesda office, Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Specific scheduling is flexible. Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluate and identify training solutions.Attend continuing education opportunities (tours, lectures, meetings, etc.) during internship semester relative to the HR profession.Assist in the training and development process including but not limited to scheduling, coordinating materials, responding to inquiries via e-mail/telephone, managing data/files.Gain strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create effective work relationships with recruiters, management, HR and candidates. Track progress, deadlines, and priorities of projects.Develop and maintain HR Compliance Knowledge.Keep abreast of new developments in the HR field.Develop a working knowledge of HR information databases and searchable resources.Prepare Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.Assist with the preparation of CCU materials and orientation schedules.Assist with preparing orientation schedules and materials.Maintain inventory of human resources documents.Assist with miscellaneous administrative and special projects as needed. Qualifications: Current Junior/Senior level pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education or related field.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities.Strong customer service skills.Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position.Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.Ability to share knowledge and information and work proactively with other team members.Prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on joint projects.Keep other team members apprised to avoid surprises and disappointed clients.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets) Clark Construction Group, LLC, (subsidiaries and affiliates) is an equal employment opportunity (“EEO”) employer.   • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Hire employees and process hiring-related paperwork.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.

  • ClericalKnowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Customer and Personal ServiceKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Personnel and Human ResourcesKnowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
