If you are interested in joining the work of the college to pursue a supportive and inclusive culture, we encourage you to apply.Position Summary:Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities, performs routine and corrective maintenance work on heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and other maintenance duties of a general nature as may be required or assigned. Complies with organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Problem solving abilities, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic are characteristics which are highly valued. The College offers a diverse range of facilities and mechanical systems, including several LEED or LEED equivalent facilities which use advanced heating and cooling systems; including passive, radiant, and VRF technologies.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Facilities/Maintenance* Performs preventive, corrective and special maintenance tasks as directed either through the work order system in accordance with standard operating procedures or as otherwise assigned* Acts as Certified Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Technician on staff for the institution and maintains refrigerant logs* Reports to Director of Facilities or his designee regarding the status of assigned workHVAC* Coordinates the work of mechanics performing HVAC/R work to assure efficiency, quality, timeliness and conformance to regulations* Ensures that all HVAC/R work complies with applicable codes and with established performance standards* Assists in coordinating and/or overseeing work performed by outside HVAC/R contractors when necessary* Anticipates the safety requirements for HVAC/R jobs and follows safety rules and standards* Reports discrepancies to Director of Facilities or his designee* On 24-hour call to respond to HVAC alarms* May respond to alarms and perform routine diagnostics by dialing into the system from a remote location when not on duty* Coordinates the work of other trades with HVAC/R work* Leads specialty and routine HVAC/R work performed by individual maintenance mechanics and/or coordinate projects involving multiple staff, when they are involved in work supporting a HVAC/R project* May assist in the training of non-licensed staff performing HVAC/R work* Interacts effectively and politely with staff, students and tenants regarding their concerns about air quality and temperatureInstitutional Expectations* Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds* Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success* Embraces, understands and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions* Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practicesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)* and-Completion of an approved technical/vocational/apprenticeship program -or- four (4) years full performance trades level experience* and-Refrigerant Handler Certification (type I and II)Preferred Qualifications* Current EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate* Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials, techniques and safety procedures of the HVAC/R trade and of industry standards and codes* Siemens Energy Management Systems experience required* Significant and proven prior experience showing the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers, to accept and follow general direction, to work independently and to produce quality work in a timely mannerSupplemental InformationWhen applying for this posting, if you are not applying for veteran's preference, you will be required to attach the following document(s):* Certification or Transcript- A copy of your certification or transcript must be attached with your application if you have completed an approved technical/vocational/apprenticeship program.* Refrigerant Handler Certification - A copy of your Refrigerant Handler Certification (type I and II) must be attached with your application materialsRequired documents must be provided at the time of application.
