What does a Hydrologist do?
We, the hydrologists, carry out researches related to the circulation, distribution, and physical characteristics of the earth's surface waters. Helping environmentalists and other scientists to clean up and preserve the environment are also our job responsibilities. We also help scientists search for groundwater. As hydrologists, we conduct different stormwater and watershed studies and process hydrologic and meteorological data. Installing and maintaining water quality are also our responsibilities. We also prepare oral presentations and written reports.
Core tasks:
- planning and collecting surface groundwater and monitoring data to support programs and projects
- determine the nature and extent of contamination in groundwater
- working with federal, state, and local agencies in issues regarding water resource
