Overview

As spring approaches, you may be yearning to get outdoors. What better place to do so than the gorgeous Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue region, which is as much renowned for its incredible nature as the wellspring of employment opportunities it offers? Just a few hours from the breathtaking Olympic National Park, the region offers a high quality of life and a consistently growing selection of jobs in Seattle.

And while Seattle is renowned for its beautiful scenery and drizzly weather, it is slightly less well-known for its remarkable professional environment. Surely you have enjoyed your fair share of Pike Place coffee, but Starbucks is far from the only major corporation to call the Seattle metropolitan area home: Amazon, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Expedia, and Costco, among many others, are also headquartered in the region.

The strong corporate environment and growing workforce are not the only great things about the area: Seattle ranks as U.S. News’s 9th Best Place to Live, with particularly strong scores in desirability and its job market. And despite its reputation as an England-esque area of constant grey, the region actually sees almost no rain throughout the summer months, allowing locals to fully enjoy the incomparable surrounding nature.

But nature and amenities aside, employment in Seattle is paramount: the region has demonstrated near constant job growth across the last ten years, and despite a small dip in overall wages the region has shown a recent increase in total compensation, and remains in the top 10 major metropolitan areas for both wages and total compensation nationwide. Additionally, despite a rough 2018, the area saw major improvement in unemployment in 2019: unemployment decreased from  3.9% to 2.9% between December 2018-2019, making the region much stronger than the national average 3.5% at the close of the year.
