Cincinnati State can trace its origins to the Cincinnati Cooperative School of Technology (CCST), a two-year technical institute for high school graduates that was established by the Cincinnati Board of Education in 1966. The function of the school was to train technicians in a program combining college-level classroom instruction and cooperative work experience. This program operated in a portion of the facility at 3520 Central Parkway, which at the time was also the home to Courter Technical High School and former home to Central High School. In its first year, the college offered only four degree programs.

Job Description

Institutional Advancement - Major Gifts Officer The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for advancing the mission of the College with a primary emphasis on fundraising to increase five, six and seven figure commitments for the College. The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Chief of Institutional Advancement and Foundation Executive Director who coordinates the day-today operations of the Advancement Team to ensure annual fundraising targets are met, and that cultivation and stewardship strategies are implemented. Essential duties: Maintain a measureable moves management program with donors and prospective donors for annual and multi-year cycles. Participate in major gift and grant solicitation and stewardship efforts. Serve as a key liaison between external annual fund efforts and multi-year comprehensive campaigns launched by College and Foundation, including stewardship of a list of donors with potential of five and six figure gifts. Execute key meetings with internal and external stakeholders to enhance community support of College needs. Manage fundraising groups comprised of volunteers and College stakeholders for major gift solicitation and stewardship. Maintain and consistently reports up-to-date plan of solicitations to meet annual fundraising goals for initiatives and events in collaboration with Advancement Team as established by Foundation and comprehensive campaign leadership. Oversee planned giving efforts, especially with retirees, alumni, and donors Responsible for coordination of logistics related to fundraising centered cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings/events involving major gift growth. Assist in government and community affairs projects leveraging private-public support. Other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Institutional Advancement/Foundation Executive Director. Minimum qualifications: Minimum of four (4) years professional experience in fundraising, development, donor cultivation, grant solicitation. Associate's Degree in a relevant field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience using a donor management and/or customer relations management (CRM) software system such as Raiser's Edge, eTapestry, DonorPerfect, etc. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to other campuses or locations in the region. Preferred Qualifications: Proven record of major gifts won through management of volunteers. Exceptional competency in use of Raiser's Edge donor software. Previous fundraising experience within higher education/community college environment. Experience supporting a comprehensive fundraising campaign and leveraging private and public funding. Bachelor's degree and/or CFRE. Desired competencies: An understanding and appreciation of the unique role community and technical colleges play in the regional workforce, and the ability to parlay this appreciation into effective cultivation of prospective donors. Flexibility and adaptability. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to diverse audiences. Ability to establish priorities and execute plans within specified parameters. Extraordinary attention to details and accuracy. Details: Reports To: Chief, Institutional Advancement Minimum Compensation: $75,000.00/yr.
