About Instructional Assistant

What does an Instructional Assistant do?

As Instructional Aides, we establish a positive and safe learning environment that responds to each student's individual needs. We are also responsible for facilitating their social, personal, and intellectual development. We supervise students during non-classroom times such as during lunch, in-between classes, and on-field excursions, ensuring that no injury occurs while strictly following state and school regulations. We also administer and score various psychological tests designed to measure students' mental, social and emotional capabilities while scrutinizing their academic performance to identify students who will profit from special education.

Core tasks:

  • assist the teacher in tutoring individuals or small students groups
  • revise lesson materials with students that are lagging behind
  • prepare teaching materials, copies, and set up all teaching equipment
