About Insurance Customer Service Representative

What does an Insurance Customer Service Representative do?

As Insurance Customer Service Representatives, we provide information in response to inquiries about products and services and handle and resolve complaints and check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems. We compare different products with original requisitions and information from invoices, prepare invoices for returned goods, complete contract forms, and prepare change of address record. We converse with customers by telephone or in-person to provide information about products and services, take orders or cancel accounts, or obtain details of complaints. We contact clients to respond to inquiries and any planned adjustments, determine charges for services requested, collect deposits and arrange for billing, keep records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints.

Core tasks:

  • order tests that could estimate the causes of product malfunctions
  • recommend improvements in products, packaging, shipping, service
  • report unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation
  • resolve customers service/billing complaints by performing activities
