IDB is the source of development of financing health for Latin America and the Caribbean and provides loans, grants, and technical assistance. IDB conducts extensive research and maintains a commitment to achieving positive results and the standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Headquartered in Washington, DC, IDB has 2000 employees around four continents with regional offices in Asia and Europe. 48 member countries are represented by the Board of Executive Directors. Central governments, states, municipalities and NGOs are among the clients of IDB. Approved lending 2019 was US$11.3 billion. IDB ensures that activities are free of fraud and corruption, through strict control mechanisms.
