The Ithaca City School District (ICSD) is a public school, the central office is located in Ithaca founded in 1926. About 500 teachers work in the district, with 100 other professional staff members. Now Dr. Luvelle Brown took charge as superintendent of Ithaca City School District on January 1, 2011. He took over from Dr. Judith C. Pastel who had been since 1996. There are nine members of the Board of Education elected for 3-year terms. Robert Ainslie is the President of the Board of Education; whereas Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell is Vice-President.
