James Madison University (JMU) was started as a teachers college in 1908 and presently functions as a public university located in Harrisonburg, Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. JMU offers 76 undergraduate, 53 master, two educational specialist degrees, and eight doctoral degree programs. The university has 1068 full-time instructional faculty members and 404 part-time faculty members training over 19,000 undergraduate and 1900 plus graduate students. This university not just supports research and scholarships via its central research administration unit that serves as an agent and advocate for student interest and faculty. University recreation centre offers fitness classes, aquatic centres, indoor track, cooking classes and wellness centre, also has more than 25 intramural sports teams ranging from volleyball to basketball and Frisbee. JMU has NCAA Division I athletic affiliation. This university has 450 clubs and organisations such as faith based organizations, cultural groups, community service teams and many others where students can find their special interests clubs and get involved in the campus activities.
