I was hired to do Custom windows In-Home. Great training but after that, terrible leads, terrible support and terrible pay

I love JCP, they relocated me from the North East to South East. Best career decision I made. I was promoted to area sales manager during the nine years I worked for them. I traveled throughout the sour east visiting their stores and helping with training and development of their local management teams. It was a well worthwhile job.

This was my very first job and it taught me many traits that were helpful working in customer service.

Great Boss and team. The Boss was always greeting us in the morning and when I asked him to walk me to my car on an evening shift, he replied they always did this, so I felt comfortable walking to my car late at night.

I worked almost 12 yrs. The new mamager was so hateful and didn't like me. She made my life a living hell. She lasted 3 months, they lost me also. I have endless excellent customer service surveys. I also lost out. Some customers became like family!

Hired for seasonal part time work - immediately assigned to intimates/lingerie/bra fitter with no previous experience. Did not meet credit card maximum high pressure speech to every customer who walked through the door. Finally I was so disgusted with this constant pressure I resigned

I started in June with the intent to stay after Christmas. An older woman was hired for Christmas help and she really needed a permanent job. So I decided to leave. I really enjoyed my co-workers and customers that I met and built great relationships with. If I could handle working on my feet 8 to 10 hours I would go back.

It was fun But I felt intimidated by the older stylists. The reception area would favor the older stylus and give them the new clients when they should’ve been giving us the new clients.

I began selling window coverings, then moved to pricing team leader, then onto MA/CSS I enjoyed working there until some rude management incidents happened. Example being told how does if feel knowing your capped out and won’t make more money. Rude. I was an excellent employee who thrived to be the best and was very successful.

I love to go to work there every days because of the environment and the diverse cultures. Managements are very supportive of each other.

My first 6 months were great and really liked my job. Things started to get hard when the re structure of the company in 2012-2013 happened, when the hours and benefits started to get cut. Overall is a great place to start as a first job or temporary one. The employee discounts are great and I never experience any negative comments about my race or appearance. It seems that the community diversity factor is nothing new and they treat you with respect.

J.C. Penney has a warm, team-spirited business style. Workers share job-related information easily from one department to the next. I worked in a retail store which enjoyed a steady stream of regional customers. This company also has a web presence with wonderful deals.

It all just depends on you, personally it wasn’t a good fit for me, the work is easy but the management isn’t as supportive in the time of need.

I received compliments on a continual bases from customers and had daily exceptional customer service surveys for review

I have worked at this place for several years now, and still have not seen a raise. I work my butt off, doing everything asked of me (trust me, A LOT is asked of me), and yet they won't give me a raise. $11 an hour is not worth it. Especially when you have to deal with rude and ungrateful customers all day, every day. That's the worst part. I've read reviews from customers about how rude the associates are, but let me just say, if YOU, as a customer, approach an associate with nothing but an attitude and disrespect, then be ready to be treated in the same fashion. This place is not a place to make a career. It would be a good place for high school kids looking for a summer job, but to spend your entire life working at a place like this is not worth it. Some associates barely get any hours, while too many hours are given to certain associates. Sadly, those associates are treated like a work horse because we are always very short staffed and management doesn't care.

Out of my hiring group of 20 or so individuals, I was the only one who came back the next day. Needed the job so I could qualify for a loan.

I worked at JC Penney Company for 4 1/2 years. I learned alot. It was a good experience. I learned to handle cash and coins. Learned about credit cards. Learned about the catalog department. Learned how to wrap presents. Order from the catalog. Make sales. Work with exciting and different people and customers. Learn alot about others and myself. Learn about the business. Training. Commision. Etc.

I only worked there for less than a year, but really enjoyed my time there. The hours were great, always got home at a reasonable hour.

They send you home before your shift ends, assistant managers will ask you to move to different departments on a whim, you have to beg for more hours and the pay is low.

I started in 4/1990, in the catalog department, a lot of things to do. Worked until 1998 when they closed this location.

I love working with my coworker there at JCPenney. I also enjoy working with the customers as well. Keeping the customer happy was my gold as well as doing my best at my job. The supervisor was very helpful in my training and my coworkers were the best to be working with in the store. It was my goal to always do more than what was required of me. It was a pleasure to be in that atmosphere at JCPenney.

A good place to work for people looking to enhance their customer service careers. JCPenney definitely shaped me for the better to what I had envisioned as a customer support professional. Mentors are always willing to go above and beyond to ensure employees feel appreciated for everything they do on a daily basis.

I started in the stockroom at JC Penney in 1971. Then from there, I was a clerk in Merchandise records, where I would reorder Merchandise as needed. I helped out in the accounting department as needed. Then I went into sales in the fine jewelry dept. 1994 to 1996, UPS front desk customer counter clerk. 1996 to 2008 I went into Management as an Operations management specialist.

Loved my supervisor fun people to work with. Safe environment. Very pleased to have worked with great people overnight.

I liked to work at Jc Penney. It was my first work and the staff members and managers were great obviously with some exceptions but overall great. My team supported me and were amazing hard-working people. Great place to start.

I loved my position, running 3 departments was busy every single day and I loved the constant need for something to be done. What I didn’t like was being talked about to associates by management like I wasn’t cut out for the job or that “the women in the place should just take orders and keep their mouths shut”. I make an “anonymous” call into HR and the GM gets not a single warning or any kind of backlash for speaking like that about the women managers he has under him who bust their butts every day for the company!! I was so irate I quit even though I absolutely loved my position. It was with a heavy heart that I left behind all the other associates and managers that would continue to have to put up with that =( No one should ever have to hear that they’re superior is speaking so poorly about the people that show up every day and do everything they can to make the experience exceptional for customers and also the associates who work under them. Respect goes such a long way.

I am pleasant work to with, making sure the tasks on done correctly. Assisting customers, if they question I direct to customer service

I needed a part-time job to supplement Social Security. I had never worked retail, but thought it might be fun for a while. It was. Our local store management and associates were wonderful, fun, supportive, and encouraging. Holidays were pretty intense, but staff was very helpful. Eventually I took a commision position selling mattresses and custom window treatments, as well as premade curtains and shades. I absolutely loved helping customers find attractive and affordable options to decorate their homes. However, when the company was sold at the end of 2020, the new owners offered me my same position at the same base rate, which was far below similar position, and without commission. So I opted not to sign on with the new corporation.

I worked there from the age 18-23. I enjoyed the staff but the work was exhausted. The only thing I dislike was the late hours. We couldn’t leave until all dept. are cleaned

It was an alright job I started as a junior stylist the only thing I really didn't like was having to run the front desk and schedule appointments

I really live the management team at JCPenny, Hermitage PA. Great to work for, everyone is like family, supportive and encouraging. Not to mention fun!!

Great company to work for. Learn alot on computer and scheduling also good customers service. Did pricing, Supervisors over women dept children also shoe and pricing.

Job eats Management. Management is replaced every year, and therefore a team is never developed. No team, no rope to tie a store together to firm a bond go succeed.

I would operate the cashier and customer service as well. Thw workplace environment was okay but the management wasnt as good.

The company in general does not look after its employees. The equipment is old and crashes often. Makes working awful.

I loved working there. The pay was very low, but overall a great place to work. Everyone is a team player there.
