POSITION SUMMARY

The Atelier Director s role is to recruit, motivate and manage a high performing team while bringing to life a first-of-its-kind experience concept for CHANEL in collaboration with corporate teams. This person is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Atelier by being an inspirational and passionate leader, role-modeling as the ultimate host. The Atelier Director will manage a team of approximately twenty-five or more staff members and act as the direct liaison with corporate to communicate the progress of the Atelier.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

EXECUTE CREATIVE VISION OF THE ATELIER

  • Model the brand image and act as brand ambassador to all audiences
  • Embody the client experience philosophy or the Atelier and translate it into actions for the team
  • Create a culture that prioritizes personalized client experience, hygiene and visual aesthetic and team collaboration
  • Work closely with corporate teams on business operations and strategy
  • Solve any execution challenges in an agile manner - proposing new strategies and reporting back on their success/failure and course correcting as needed. Elevate issues to corporate partners when necessary
  • Evolve Policies and Procedures to ensure that operational infrastructure gives the appropriate support and guidance to the Atelier team, while ensuring a consistent client experience

LEADERSHIP AND TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Assume overall leadership responsibility for the Atelier and act as ultimate decision maker
  • Recruit initial team members and build a continuous pipeline of talent from freelance to management
  • Ensure that all new staff members have a robust and consistent on-boarding process, appropriate to their role
  • Build a coaching and feedback framework for the team to share performance metrics and develop each individual and the collective
  • Develop team members by elevating their skills and expertise with a focus on personal development, incorporating individual development plans
  • Work with corporate to set team goals based on relevant KPIs
  • Plan team building exercises to ensure alignment and foster community
  • Build team communication channels and to ensure consistent messaging and constant information flow
  • Proactively address and resolve employee issues in a professional manner and in accordance with Chanel standards, policies and procedures; partner with HR as needed

BUSINESS STRATEGY AND ANALYTICS

  • Analyze KPIs and report Atelier performance to senior management
  • Build a 3 year plan to achieve top KPIs revisiting regularly to adjust as needed
  • Manager key line items of the budget including: staffing, supplies, events, etc and help determine the effectiveness of the spend
  • Continuously network for active knowledge of the market, trends and competitive activity. Use this network for business outreach and strategic planning
  • Generate innovative ideas to help build the business through experimentation and test and learns

OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

  • Control store expenses (including personnel costs) and maintain operating budgets
  • Support, promote and assume responsibility for security and policy compliance
  • Consistently adhere to all operational procedures and model proficiency of all core systems & technologies
  • Enforce our policies & ensure accurate and timely processing of employee paperwork (including but not limited to payroll & time/attendance, employee changes & employee discipline)
  • Oversee and ensure compliant inventory movement by ensuring the accurate & timely processing product received, testers received, and POS transactions
  • Source and manage vendors hired to support the experience (cleaning, freelancers, caterers, etc.)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business analytical skills, including: an understanding of forecasting and buying plans, budget management and calculation of retail metrics
  • Demonstrable interest in the beauty category
  • Fluency in technology and systems, such as clienteling systems, inventory management and Microsoft Suite
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Additional languages a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Standing, walking, and sitting intermittently for extended periods of time

DESIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a team to achieve measurable results
  • Demonstrated passion for providing a superior customer experience
  • High school education or equivalent required; Bachelors preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience managing a retail or hospitality team including: operations, merchandising, sales and stock activities
