The KBVR -TV Special Projects Show Producer is responsible for coordinating and producing live TV broadcasts for KBVR -TV. This includes live 30 minute TV shows broadcast on Channel 26 and online, and the uploading of full episodes and online-exclusive content to KBVRs online platforms, including YouTube and Facebook.
The Special Projects Producer ensures student staff, crew members, and volunteers are held to the highest ethical and professional standards and practices. The producer assigns crew
positions and responsibilities, oversees their crew, and delegates when appropriate. The producer builds others up through mentoring, coaching and supporting, while also managing and directing work.
The producer follows OMN policies and procedures to recruit, lead and supervise student staff and volunteers while advancing Orange Media Networks reputation for excellence as a welcoming,
engaging and inclusive organization.
The producer should be familiar with all aspects of TV and video production. They identify and facilitate trainings and workshops for all TV team members, including but not limited to: equipment training, producing, show directing, on-air hosting, ethics, writing, and shooting and editing video. The producer may be called upon to represent OMN publicly.

This recruitment will be used to fill 2 part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Support Services positions for Orange Media Network at Oregon State University.Position Duties
Work to ensure that KBVR -TV content is current, relevant, and consistent with OMNs mission, vision, and policies.
Ensure all content strives to be representative of the myriad of experiences and identities of the OSU community through source selection, guest selection, topic selection, and image selection
Complete all required training
Set high standards in accordance to OMN policies and procedures
Work collaboratively with other mediums to create a welcoming and inter-disciplinary environment
Other duties as assigned by the adviser and Director
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the KBVR -TV crew and establish procedures that encourage learning, student participation, accountability and media excellence
Ensure you and your staff are using, checking and responding to BaseCamp for project management
Ensure staff have completed all required training before taking on assignments
Ensure that all volunteers have completed the volunteer agreement form, are eligible and consistently meet expectations and commitments
Disciplinary action must be approved by adviser, based on University Human Resources guidelines and following OMNs 3 strike process
Hold staff accountable to high standards you have set in accordance to OMN policies and procedures
Ensure that all students are given opportunities to grow and try new roles, positions and leadership opportunities
Collaborate with adviser on new ways for staff to advance in their skills
KBVR -TV Special Project Producer Responsibilities:
Create and oversee content for a series of special broadcasts focusing on topics of social or community significance. The shows will be of the highest quality both in technical skill and in interest to the community
Topics will be decided in conjunction with OMNs Mission, and coordinated with input from all OMN Student Leaders
Each show will have a unique theme. Topics should demonstrate social significance or be about an issue that is relevant to the community
Each episode will feature interviews from multiple, relevant sources (either live or recorded) that showcase all sides of the issue. Information presented should follow all SPJ Code of Ethics standards everything should be accurate, fact-checked, and fair
Bring in a live studio audience for each episode. Engage with the audience in real-time using social media, audience participation, or other methods
Make full use of the KBVR -TV studios for every broadcast, including but not limited to: multiple sets in Studios A and B, live shots from locations on campus (MU Ballroom, Global Community Kitchen, SEC Lobby, SEC Plaza, etc)
Episodes will be 30 minutes long (with PSA breaks), and air monthly on KBVR -TV during the academic year
Shows will air at 6 p.m. Exact dates to be determined by TV Station Manager
Shows must first air live on channel 26 and live online streaming
Ensure all shows are properly staffed with dedicated crew members (director, TD, cameras, audio, etc.)
Cut a short video tease for each episode, with airtimes and how to watch, to air on channel 26 and be shared on social media. Must be complete and shared with TV station manager and OMN Marketing team at least one week prior to live broadcast
Use Inception software to build a detailed rundown for each episode, and share rundown with the crew and station manager
When live show is completed, optimize show for YouTube and upload to KBVR -TV YouTube page within 24 hours and properly label it with appropriate title, description, tags, and cover image
Responsible for ensuring all videos (both broadcast and online) have complete and accurate open captioning. Provide full scripts, transcripts and prep material to station manager no later than 24 hours before airtime to ensure live captioners can review and ensure accuracy
Create and tend to a regular social media promotion schedule under the direction of the TV station manager and marketing
Ensure all content on KBVR -TV (channel 26, online, and social media) is accurate, fair, engaging, and of high technical and ethical quality prior to broadcast or upload
Share links to live stream on social media prior to every live broadcast. Send link to each TV team member, crew member, and all guests on the shows. Share the link to the live stream with all show guests prior to every live broadcast
Share links to full episodes on YouTube immediately following the broadcast
Create one evergreen PSA or promo to air during KBVR productions
Be a collaborator with fellow OMN leaders in the shared use of facilities, equipment and content to benefit all OMN publications, mediums and audience

Knowledgeable about field video production
Knowledgeable of how to create video content and able and interested in learning to create content for all media platforms
Knowledgeable of legal regulations and ethical principles guiding television and video
Knowledgeable of Adobe Premiere
Must take required training on Ross Inception rundown creation system
Must take required training on Intro to Journalism
Capable of effectively using web tools and social media for building engagement
Is a strong writer, communicator and comfortable with public speaking
Is organized and reliable
Is experienced with giving and receiving feedback
Is capable of leading and coaching others to be their best
Able to remain professional and calm when working with difficult individuals and situations
Is knowledgeable and experienced in building and maintaining relationships with sources, stakeholders, partners, collaborators and the community
Meets university eligibility requirements, including but not limited to:
Must be currently enrolled at Oregon State University for at least 6 academic credits
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
Must remain in a good academic standing from the term prior to selection and during the entire period of employment
Must complete all elements on On-Boarding Curriculum
Has previously been a paid staff member, producer or crew member of KBVR -TV
Prior attendance and participation in OMN Boot Camp
