Students at KIPP DC schools gain the experience, skills, and trust they need to become the next generation of leaders in Washington, DC. KIPP DC's first school, KIPP DC KEY Academy, was established in a church basement in Southeast Washington, D.C. in 2001 by founder Susan Schaeffler and a team of committed educators. KIPP DC started by educating middle school students, but we quickly noticed that the learning distance was too wide even by fifth grade, and we wanted to reach out to students sooner. It is offering career opportunities for job seekers such as Special Education Lead Teacher, Associate Director of Operations, and Speech Language Pathologist.
