It's like any department store which are America's equivalent to a sweatshop. Expect long hours (if you are scheduled at all) and being treated like cattle will for pay that's a joke. But, if you can stick it out for a year or more you will be showing future employers what you're made of.

Pros and Cons
It's a stepping stone to where you WANT to be.

This job was okay but not great. When I didn’t understand a task and asked for guidance I was talked down too by management. The fitting rooms were over filled with clothes too many to keep up on that there was no getting ahead, also had pressure by managers to get the clothes put away by my shift which was impossible for one person to accomplish. The fitting rooms have signs posted for how many items the customer can take in but was not enforced for the sake of the employee. Not enough people on the floor to help with phones calls, customers, or putting away items that needed to be on the floor.

Pros and Cons
Easy shift changes.
Over worked, understaffed, unfriendly employees, short lunch, no recognition for hard work.

I enjoyed working here at first because it is good experience for when you are just entering the workforce. Terrible pay with no option to move up in the company. I decided to resign because I was doing most of the work on the floor during my shift, even though there was usually 2 other associates working with me. Management only cared about selling credit cards, which was already hard to do since almost every customer had one already. Unless you are used to retail and enjoy being criticized when you aren't getting enough applications, retail may not be for you.

Don’t waste your time. It’s all about who sucks up the district manager, no matter how many years of experience. I was under doctors orders to work half shifts for a few weeks and my boss told me I wouldn’t have a job if I went home. When I told district manager, he said he wasn’t my boss. They will have you work 5am-9pm if you aren’t careful. They will justify it by saying you get 2 weekends off a month

I honestly loved working at Kohl’s. I never dreaded going to work, customers were usually sweet, and my managers were great. The reason I left, however, was the pay. I couldn’t work for $10 an hour, especially when they don’t do raises. There’s opportunities for promotion, but only if you work full time and specialize in a department other than registers. All in all, it’s a great first job, but not one I would recommend to high school graduates.

I had no experience when I first started Kohls. There was a lack of training, I had to keep asking questions so I knew what to do. I enjoyed the job once I learned the different positions. Cashier and Customer Service. Most of the people I worked with were young still going to school. I found most of them to be very lazy and took no pride in their work. maybe it was their youth or the lack of training. There was no teamwork to get a job done. Each one was assigned to a particular department and would only take care that department only, even when they had nothing to do, they would not help a coworker. At the end of the day when I was closing Customer service, everything had to be cleared out and put back on the shelves. That was not part of my job but I would always help so we could all go home.

Pros and Cons
I personally enjoyed the job and meeting people.

I was an employee of Kohl's for three years. Enjoyed training the new hires. Meet new people every day. And they loved that I memorized all the customers names, and they would come to my register just to have conversations like being family. The company was great to work for. It took a while to get a raise, other than that it was a great place to work. My bosses were very nice to work for, made it easier to work for the company.

The company is ready to use your talents. They are willing to encourage the desired position. I have worked for the Kohls company for several years, and in that time frame, I was given the encouragement to apply for jobs when they became available. Different positions are available 'in house' first. I suffer from multiple sclerosis and I was still given the opportunity and encouragement to take a position when it became available.

Culture and Values
I loved working at Kohl's. The management team were always available and supportive. They made being an employee seem less corporate and uptight. It was fun, always met with great humor and lots to gain from both fellow co-workers, management and most of all customers.

Pros and Cons
Friendly office, great flexibility in hours, working with others in a team approach
Pay was not the best starting but there is great potential for growth opportunities

I worked for Kohls and loved most of my co-workers, once they put in a new store manager it got bad there.

Pros and Cons
Employee discounts, adjustable working hours, advancement to other positions. Lifetime friends.
Breaks were always late, always short handed, not enough help.

I’ve been with kohl’s for 3 years. Very lenient on scheduling. In this retail space there is definitely some toxicity and poor management within our location.

Pros and Cons
Free Food occasionally.

I was working at Kohls for a season. During the holidays, I was put as many positions and learned a lot. I was a greeter, worked in the beauty department, helped re stock shelves, worked in all clothing departments, as well as helped with online orders during covid. I enjoyed my time at Kohls, and everyone was very polite and helpful. I ended up finishing my time there, because I was continuing my education.

Pros and Cons
great sales, perfect timing breaks, nice environment
I wasn't trained enough in some areas as much as I'd like to
