"Flexible Hours" means they can work you any time of the day and weekends and holiday. Upper managements doesn't care about the workers, which puts stress on employees. Union benefits are VERY nice. Most people stay less than a year. A few stay there 40 years.

Pros and Cons
Benefits and hourly wage
Too few employees at one time. Upper management doesn't care about employees.

Kroger's systems are outdated, their training is poor. They show favoritism, and are unprofessional rude. The pay is unsatisfactory, I would not advise anyone to seek employment with their accounting division.

Management promotes their friends. They prefer employees who will work all day and all night so basically single men. They lie about how they will support you and then stab you in the back if anything goes wrong.

Little did I expect to still be working for Kroger over twenty years after I was first hired. As a large national retailer it has many positions and locations that employ individuals in the grocery retail industry. Promotions are readily available if you excel in your current position however this leads to managers that may not have people skills running departments that are good at getting the job done but forget to recognize your contributions. Also be aware that if you do not meet the politically motivated diversity requirement in the country, it is all but impossible to get a promotion past the store level as this company supports the diversity being pushed by political motivations to fill its higher level ranks. It also supports programs pushed by politics regarding environment and other items leading to frequent changes in how it does certain aspects of business meaning you have to adapt to change constantly.

Pros and Cons
Good benefits for a retail environment and various positions available.
Pay is regulated by a union contract whether you join the union or not.

I worked there for 4 years when I started it was great but kroger changes their store managers every year or two and as they change the managers we get seen to be more bias and work less and ignore our opinions. These managers pick and choose their favorites and will cut your hours if your not in their circle. The co workers were amazing

Pros and Cons
Met wonderful people
No hours, little Pay, lazy management

I was refused reasonable accommodations after a back injury/ medical condition prevented me from being able to lift over 20 lbs. you may be required to work double or triple shifts in a row as management and also work third shift unexpectedly when short staffed. No work life balance unless you have a thoughtful manager.

Discounted groceries
