💯 Frequent job changes in the legal field can be seen as a red flag, indicating a lack of dedication and stability. I prefer someone who has demonstrated commitment to their position and employer.

While it's important to consider commitment, job changes can actually show ambition and a drive for growth. I've seen legal assistants who have moved around and ultimately found their perfect fit in a firm. 💼

🤔 I'm sorry, but I feel like Legal Assistants often get overlooked. We do a lot of the grunt work, but our contributions are undervalued. It's about time people recognized the significance of our role and the skills we bring to the table.

What typical dress code applies to working as a Legal Assistant?
avatar-of-creator
It depends on the law firm or company. Dress has generally relaxed since I started 30 years ago (when women were expected to wear hose). I think most law firms are business casual unless meeting clients or going to court. Corporations tend to be a bit more relaxed. The last company I worked at, went from buying "Jeans Day" tickets for charity, to jeans every Friday to jeans the entire summer.... unless meeting with clients etc.

Consider the following: Paralegal, Administrative Assistant or Legal Secretary
avatar-of-creator
Legal Assistant and Paralegal used to be used interchangeably, but these days it seems that, in a lot of companies, Legal Assistant generally means Legal Secretary or Legal Admin, while Paralegal means someone who graduated from Paralegal school. I learned this the hard way when I interviewed for a Legal Assistant job at a large corporation. I was told that I was over qualified for the job. That is when I learned that Legal Assistant meant Legal Secretary to them.
