About Legislative Assistant

What does a Legislative Assistant do?

We, Legislative Assistants, perform our duties by supporting legislators. We usually have to work in the legislative department of government. Our primary duty is to provide support services to representatives. Our job duties include assisting legislators in lawmaking procedures. We mostly perform a mix of research duties, communication, public relations, and administrative jobs. We develop laws on the environment to educate to community’s safety. We play a significant role in the daily lives of citizens. We help legislators to carry out their job tasks more efficiently.

Core tasks:

  • scheduling meetings and coordinating calls
  • performing communications with legislative officers and community members
  • performing data entry and documentation
  • attending the meetings and answering calls
