As Legislative Directors, we are responsible for advising the congressman on legislative concerns. We assist in developing policies and legislative initiatives and manage the office’s legislative staff. We create federal priority issues with the Executive director and coordinate with state agency staff. Strategizing and creating action plans to advance legislative issues is one of our main responsibilities. We research and prepare memoranda to analyze and outline response actions. We respond to congressional delegation members and prepare federal legislative testimony to be used by legislative committees. We develop and revise legislation to satisfy the federal legislative agenda. Working as Legislative Directors, we represent the agency at conferences and meetings. We handle the executive director's assigned work and duties. We also draft and mail legislative correspondence and coach legislative committee members.
