About Library Director

What does a Library Director do?

As Library Directors, we are responsible for directing and implementing library service programs, including managing all library resources. We ensure that the library's building and grounds are well-maintained. We hire as well as supervise all assistants and volunteers who work in the library. Serving as the technical adviser to the committee of trustees is also a part of our duty. We implement the policies of the library as established by the committee. Working as Library Directors, we are responsible for preparing a draft of the yearly library budget for the director's approval. We maintain a quality inventory of all library materials. Finally, we purchase all office and library material and equipment.

  • maintaining community relationships with schools and organizations
  • working with library board to develop an annual budget
  • developing policies and procedures for operation on library
  • planning and implementation of library services
