About Library Manager

What does a Library Manager do?

As Library Managers, we build good relationships with local contacts and partnerships to both enhance the service and ensure the library is an integral part of the community. We are highly skilled managers, therefore we come with an excellent understanding of all library operations including budgetary control, stock development, people management and building management within a public library are essential. We also join a busy and engaged team and drive to deliver the current roadmap of initiatives whilst shaping and planning out an even more ambitious one for the future. Additionally, we come with a strong commercial sales and leadership background and a niche product development background.

Core tasks:

  • management of the school library, its environment, electronic and hard copy resources to provide up to date library service that is accessible to all individuals
  • to manage the reading programmes and intervention programmes for individuals
  • act as a co-educator by teaching staff and students the skills of information literacy within curricular contexts
  • ensure that all books are fully stocked, sourcing and providing estimates for new materials
  • arrange materials for effective retrieval, including systematic indexing, classification and cataloguing of all the school’s resources
