What does a Licensed Vocational Nurse do?

As Licensed Vocational Nurses, we are mainly at the entry-level into the nursing profession and thus we handle many duties under care to assist the nurses, doctors, and physicians. We are responsible for collecting important information for the patients once they report to the hospital for treatment. We help dress the wounds, remove stitches, getting dressed, and walking the patients. We also help patients understand the prescriptions they have been given by explaining to them what that means.

Core tasks:

  • draw blood samples for testing
  • record patients’ information
  • explain the prescriptions to the patient
  • dress the patient's wounds and remove stitches
