Job Description

Private family looking hire a Live-in (they would consider a live-out also) Chef/House Manager to work in their Bethesda, MD home.
Position Responsibilities
  • Greet guests and visitors, answer telephone and take messages, general mail and correspondence.
  • Formal and semi-formal table setting; food and beverage service dinner parties and events for up to 8-10 people.
  • Cook dinner for Principles 4 to 5 times a week
  • Assisting with the preparation, cooking and execution of occasional dinner parties and events for up to 8-10 people
  • Care of the butler pantry including china, crystal and silver
  • Light housekeeping, light laundry and ironing (primary cleaning done by a third party.  Changing linens as necessary in between 3 times a week housekeeping service
  • Valet duties to include packing and unpacking.  Complete wardrobe management and seasonal rotation
  • Management of household inventories and implement new organizational strategies
  • Replace easily accessible light bulbs and any other easily replaceable consumables
  • Regular errands to include but not limited to grocery shopping, dry cleaning, receiving and sending of packages and personal shopping
  • Vendor and trade management (landscapers, cleaners, maintenance, minor renovations or upgrades, caterers, Amex concierge and travel, etc.)
  • Prepare checks for service providers
  • Tidy up exterior prior to any social events (brush aside twigs, leaves off the entry ways, patios, etc.)
  • Maintain and follow garage collection schedules
  • Ensure floral arrangements
  • Pet care (2 cats)
  • Vehicle maintenance and cleanliness
  • Occasional driving duties
  • Travel with the family to Nantucket (mid-June to mid-August)
  • Knowledge of household security systems
  • Other duties as required

  • Must possess excellent time management skills
  • Must be punctual and possess a keen attention to detail
  • Must be service oriented; able to anticipate Principle’s needs
  • Team player and me able to effectively work with other staff members
  • Comfortable with cats
  • Tech savvy and computer literate; proficient with Word and Excel
  • Must be discreet at all times
  • Excellent English and communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the US

  • Manage and oversee operations, maintenance, administration, and improvement of commercial, industrial, or residential properties.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate general maintenance, major repairs, and remodeling or construction projects for commercial or residential properties.
  • Direct collection of monthly assessments, rental fees, and deposits and payment of insurance premiums, mortgage, taxes, and incurred operating expenses.
  • Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment routinely to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance.
