About Loss Prevention Supervisor

What does a Loss Prevention Supervisor do?

As loss prevention supervisors, our primary responsibility is to prevent theft in our assigned area. We are typically employed by retail stores, distribution/fulfillment centers, etc. We work with cross-functional teams to identify trends and potential risks. We develop and implement strategies to address them. We drive security and safety awareness in order to reduce the frequency of incidents. We do this through providing trainings and recommending best practices. We often supervise a team of loss prevention specialists.

Core tasks:

  • identifying theft trends
  • developing and implementing theft prevention strategies
  • developing and implementing theft/safety/shortage control awareness programs
  • conducting internal investigations of incidents
  • conducting surveillance and apprehension
  • assessing and maintaining loss prevention programs
  • supervising loss prevention staff
